Youth Respect Team in Seacombe

As your local Conservative Councillor, I would like to inform you that members of the Youth Respect Team are being deployed to Demesne Street in Seacombe; over the next 4 Saturdays between 6pm-8pm.

This area has been highlighted by Anti-Social Behaviour Governance Group as an area of concern for ASB, over the last 3 months and identified as a ASB hotspot at last month’s ASB Governance Group meeting.

It has to be to emphasised that this area is not Wirral’s main ASB hotspot; it is an area within the respective Police Ward with the most reports of ASB.

In many cases there is a significant difference in the level of reported ASB in this area of Seacombe compared to Wallasey’s other hotspots.

The Youth Respect Team will be spending four weekends assessing this location to determine the appropriate action needed and/or if any extra support should be provided through a multi agency approach to prevent any ASB issues escalating.

Whilst in the area they will be working closely and liaising with Youth Services. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated and I will keep you updated with regards to the assessments.

If you have any questions about any of the above information please do not hesitate to contact me via this Blog.

Turning Seacombe Blue by degrees

One of the most pleasurable things for a Councillor is being able to be proactive rather than reactive and this is only made possible by being out and about, delivering leaflets, canvassing or visiting constituents, in other words working the Ward.

On Thursday for instance, I took these photos somewhere in Seacombe and was then able to send them, along with a narrative straight through to Streetscene, for action.

The bins above which had warning stickers on, have already been removed and the graffitti, along with the rubbish, which is on private property, will also be cleaned up in due course.

This sort of work is a matter of pride for me because I am proud to represent Seacombe and hate to see it dragged now by the more irresponsible residents living here, who thankfully are in the minority.

Dog Fouling in Seacombe – Good advice

Seacombe Conservative Candidate Tony Cox and I have received some really useful information after contacting the dog wardens in connection with the ammount of dog muck left by irresponsible dog owners on the streets of Seacombe. See below:

Members of the public can report someone allowing their dog to foul – with no pick up taking place – by ringing 647 8799 if they know where the person lives, they will be asked for their details but these will remain anon. A requirement due to the Data Protection Act.

A warden will visit the address and advise them of the complaint received and the Law regarding dog fouling. If this visit does not deter them and further complaints are received then a warden will issue a written warning and advise them that should further complaints be received then they may be summoned to court. The complainant will be kept informed of all actions taken.

If a member of the public is willing to make a statement and go to court having witnessed someone allowing their dog to foul this could be done after the previous warnings – this shows the courts that this is a constant offender. We understand that it is difficult making a complaint about a possible neighbour but without this last step it is very difficult for us to proceed further.

Also if they see someone getting into a car we can trace them through the registration number.

The ‘Don’t Give A Dog A Bad Name’ campaign was very successful in highlighting the law with regards to dog fouling and the education of dog owners and targeted the coastal areas, it is our wish that if further funding was to become available then we could look at other areas to target and educate more owners.

Tony and I are campaigning to have the “Don’t give a dog a bad name” presentation in Seacombe Ward at the earliest opportunity.

Money identified to clean up part of Seacombe

An approach has been made, by Seacombe Conservative Candidate Tony Cox and myself to Officers who manage cleansing in the Seacombe area, regarding concerns raised by residents about the state of cleanliness in the grassed area just off Demesne Street and the Lowry Bank Road embankment.

Officers inspected the areas and agreed with our concerns over the amount of litter found. The area is not covered by the Biffa contract and the lead Officer suggested that the area might be subjected to a clean up using ‘You Decide’ money.

There is a limited sum available for work, from that pot of money, in the Ward and Tony and I believe this area would benefit from the investment. The intention therefore will be to conduct a tidy up as soon as possible followed by a second in three months as we move into the spring/summer period.

We would like to thank residents who raised this issue as part of our recent canvass and survey of the area and also to Officers who agreed with us and suggested the option to use public money to address the problem.

We would encourage residents across the Ward to contact us if and when similar problems arise.

Team Seacombe 2010

The Wallasey Conservative Action Team are visiting and re-visiting Seacombe residents on a regular basis and are finding more and more local people who are ready for the political change that we all hope is coming over the next few months.

As David Cameron said on this mornings Politics Show, the Conservative Party has changed under his leadership and our job now is to talk to as many voters as possible in the run up to the local and national elections this year, promoting and supporting the view that we are prepared to take control and govern this country on their behalf.

There are many voters in Seacombe who, over the years have supported and relied on labour to help them but their patience and support has not been rewarded and now they are considering their options.

The work that the Conservative Candidate for Seacombe in the May 2010 local elections, Tony Cox and I, as a Conservative Councillor do here in the Ward, is vitally important in motivating and changing those opinions.

As part of an ever increasing presence within the fabric of the Seacombe Community, we are supporting the desire of the Conservative Party to take a more responsible role, to serve the people, mend our broken society and change the policies that have caused so much distress for our local and national communities.

Hawthorne Grove/Percy Road Project

After almost 12 months of campaigning by local residents, local conservative activist Tony Cox and myself are pleased that Wirral Partnership Homes are now in the process of securing the area and making good on their promises to support local residents.

The works which started on Monday the 25th of January, consists of metal fencing and gates and improvements to the garden areas.

The photo above shows the temporary fencing installed on the first day. Some of the local scally took great delight in pulling down the less secure areas of fencing but it was made more secure the following day.

The photo below shows the extent of the environmental work being undertaken at the back of the maisonettes on Percy Road.

The work which is extensive, should take 8 weeks to complete.

Re-elected

Having Chaired the Liverpool John Lennon Airport Committee for the last 8 years, it was pleasing to get the support of committee members today at the AGM, to carry on for another year.

Below is a photo taken after the meeting when we were given a tour of the newly opened Hampton Hotel ajacent to the airport terminal.

The hotel has been built and furnished to a high standard and is great value at £59 per night, which includes free internet access, use of a gym, breakfast and a dedicated car parking place at only £5 per night for the first 3 days

Order from chaos

The more I hear and read about the state of the economy both here on the Wirral and across the country the more incensed I get.

For the last 13 years new labour ideology has ruined this once great nation and yes I played a part, as a new labour activist I allowed it to happen by accepting the lies of the leadership.

The mismanagement of the new labour administration, locally and nationally is there for all to see.

Someone is going to have a hell of a job to turn it all around – to mend our broken society.

I believe an incoming Conservative administration will be fit for purpose and that the task ahead will not be underestimated.

Clear and transparent consultation of the people, by the people and for the people has to be the way forward.

The revolutionary spirit of Che is alive and well here in Seacombe and is willing to play a full and active role in proceedings!

Latest Newsline – January 2010

The response to the latest Conservative leaflet delivered in Seacombe has been overwhelming, many residents feel, like us, that the campaigns we highlight are the ones that they want to hear about, discuss and support.

We will continue to raise the important issues, that are related to us on the doorstep, via local businesses and community groups, and through personal contact that would, if left unaddressed, effect and undermine the quality of life for the people of Seacombe.

My Councillors Surgery will continue to be held EVERY Saturday morning between 10.00am – 11.00am at Seacombe Library. No appointment is necessary.

A notice displaying my contact details and offering home visits if required, is on permanent display within the Library.

Central Park Partnership Group

I attended a meeting at the Parkfield Cricket Club this morning to discuss the future plans for our Park under privitisation as proposed by the newlab/lib/dem administration.

I was surprised the 2 new labour councillors present didn’t hang their heads in shame at the prospect.

I will not be using this blog to advertise or promote the political work I am doing as a Conservative Councillor in the Ward over the months leading up to the local elections in May.

Please be assured I will be doing plenty on the political front in Seacombe but I do not wish to alert oppostion parties exactly what that is. They have a tendancy to jump on the bandwagon given the opportunity.

I will of course continue to add items of interest as and when they arise.
